More than 1,300 graves have been excavated in this Iron Age cemetery covering about half a hectare. Finds span the Middle Iron Age to the Crusader period and show trade links with the eastern Mediterranean, Britain and Germany. Textiles from a woman’s grave excavated by archaeologist Pirkko-Liisa Lehtosalo-Hilander in 1969 formed the basis of an ancient costume reconstruction unveiled in 1982.
A guided route passes the main find locations. An exhibition space alongside presents the excavations, and sheep graze in the park in summer.
