Housed in the former dye house in the Kehräämö mill area, the museum explores Finnish printed fabric through an industrial textile collection and installations. Visitors can create patterns on a light table, mix colours, inspect weaves with a magnifier and turn a printing machine crank.
The exhibition suits all ages. Guided tours are booked through museum customer service and trace printed textiles from the 1800s onwards. The shop sells products based on surplus materials from collection work. Finlayson's printed textile studio was established in 1951, and local printed fabric production continued until 2009.
