The upper secondary school has about 600 students and is part of Koulutuskuntayhtymä Tavastia. It was founded over 100 years ago and has roots in the local girls' school. It holds a state-granted special mission in mathematics and natural sciences, and offers a mathematics and natural sciences line and the LUMA lukio programme. Its emphasis is on mathematical and scientific skills, internationality and strong cultural subjects.
Introductory courses run with universities, mostly free and online, and completed courses count as upper secondary studies. Students publish the school magazine Iltanen, and the school has a student union and an alumni association. The car park and entrance are wheelchair accessible.
