This is one of four sites run by the city museum, along with Museo Skogster, the Savings Bank Museum and Sibelius's birthplace. The museum was founded in 1910 and opened to the public in 1912, and it became the regional museum of Kanta-Häme in 1980. Since 2020 it has handled authority tasks for built and archaeological cultural heritage in Kanta-Häme, transferred from the Finnish Heritage Agency. Its exhibitions cover the region's cultural history.
Family and school programmes are offered. The Museum Card, Vuosikortti and Kaikukortti admission cards are accepted, as are E-Passi and Edenred. An accessible toilet is available, but the car park is not wheelchair accessible.
