Founded in 1997, the association is a local Leader action group for rural development. It supports resident-led projects, better living conditions, employment and business activity across five municipalities.
Businesses can apply for Leader funding for development and investment, while non-profit organisations can seek support for community activities and investments. Youth ideas are supported through Nuoriso Leader funding. The association also participates in the Sisä-Suomen Kalaleader programme for commercial fisheries.
