This unified comprehensive school in Helsinki teaches grades 1–9 on three sites, and in its bilingual classes at least a quarter of teaching is in English. English or Spanish can be started in grade 1, with German, Russian, Chinese and French offered later. Grade 9 electives include programming and robotics, and the pupil welfare team includes school nurses, psychologists, social workers and multilingual tutors.
Oversubscribed bilingual places in grade 1 are drawn by lot, and later grades admit by aptitude test. Paid afternoon activities are run by the Helsinki YMCA and the Kotinummi playground. The premises are smoke- and substance-free, and the entrance is wheelchair accessible.
