This Helsinki centre for art, culture and mental wellbeing is open every day and run by the mental health association Pro Lapinlahti. Around a hundred culture, art and mental health organisations work in the old hospital's main building and the Venetsia building, and some 300 events and exhibitions a year are open to everyone free of charge.
The café serves pastries and soup lunches. There is a sauna, a flea market and an art and craft shop, and you can take part as a volunteer, tend a garden plot or join language courses and exercise groups. Event and meeting spaces and workrooms are for hire, with the income supporting the centre's work. The entrance, toilets and parking are accessible.
