Finland's only professional opera house stages both opera and ballet in Helsinki, in two auditoriums seating 1,350 and 500. Operas are usually sung in the original language, with surtitles above the stage, normally in Finnish, Swedish and English. Recordings and live streams can also be watched on the Stage24 online service.
It is worth buying tickets in advance online, by phone or from customer service. The step-free entrance is on the Töölönlahti bay side, lifts serve the balconies, where the wheelchair spaces are, and there is an induction loop with receivers to borrow. The cloakroom is free, and the Opera Restaurant, Bar & Café Juha and a champagne bar are open during intervals.
