Nordea's bank museum in Helsinki traces Finnish retail banking from the customer's side, from the founding of the Union Bank of Finland in 1862 onwards. It is housed in that institution's former building, designed by Gustaf Nyström and completed in 1898, with 11 facade reliefs by Walter Runeberg. Displays include a 1904 interior by Gesellius, Lindgren & Saarinen, rare notes from 1866 and 1882 and items from the 25 predecessors in Nordea's family tree.
It opens to the public on the first Thursday of each month, and groups of 10 to 20 can arrange weekday visits through ISS Palvelut. The displays are in the vault, which has no step-free access; if the outer door is locked, ring the doorbell.
