Founded in 1970, the foundation supports scientific research into heart and vascular diseases common in Finland. Grants focus on multi-year projects and doctoral and postdoctoral research.
A scientific committee of medical specialists assesses applications before the board decides. Funding comes from one-off, recurring and bequest donations. The office is located with the Finnish Heart Association.
