Founded in 1940, this outdoor association offers year-round hiking and trekking for around 8,000 members. Other activities include courses, nature evenings, trail running, winter swimming, volleyball and summer pole fitness, plus snowshoeing and skiing when conditions allow. Activities rely largely on volunteers.
It leases Maunula outdoor lodge in Central Park and the Vaakko wilderness cabin in Nuuksio, and maintains a winter swimming site at Rastila campsite. Its volunteer rescue group assists the authorities with searches. Adults and families can join. The office entrance and car park are not wheelchair accessible.
