Founded in 1957, the music school provides basic arts education to around 700 pupils, mainly children and young people. It is run by a private supporting association with state and city subsidies. Options include early childhood music groups and basic and advanced studies in instruments such as piano, violin, guitar, flute, clarinet and drums, as well as singing.
Studies cover theory, history, harmony, chamber music and orchestral playing. A foundation lends instruments to pupils, and concerts and instrument events are held for families. Communication is mainly by email, and continuing early childhood music pupils enrol electronically.
