This old stone church of the Pohjankyrö parish is dedicated to St Lawrence. The early history of the grey stone church is largely legendary: a wooden church came first, and 1304 is given as one possible year of construction. The old parish formed 27 of today's towns and municipalities. The nave is 33 m long and 11.3 m wide, the walls are 1.6 to 2 m thick and the ridge is about 23.8 m high. The acoustics are excellent for music performances.
The church has been re-consecrated, and in summer it hosts weddings, services and other events. A digital organ (Allen QL-310, bought in 2006) is moved here for the summer and to the main church for the winter. The floor has been renovated, and wall restoration will continue for several years. The church is open only in summer. The car park, entrance and toilet are wheelchair accessible. The website is available in Finnish, Swedish, English and German.
