Food workers' union branch 006 was founded in 1948 in the former rural municipality of Pedersöre. It changed name in 1972 and absorbed local dairy and food workers' branches in 1972–1974. A tobacco workers' branch joined in 1999.
Food industry workers can become members and participate in local and national union activities. Member events include parties, cruises, seasonal days and training. The website is bilingual Finnish and Swedish, and the branch connects to SAK through the Ostrobothnia regional organisation.
