This science museum at the Tuorla Observatory in Kaarina covers its history and the inventions of academician Yrjö Väisälä (1891–1971), the first professor of physics at the University of Turku, who founded the Tuorla research institute in 1952. On show are inventions by Väisälä, Liisi Oterma and colleagues, telescopes built here since the 1950s and distance-measuring methods among the world's most precise.
Groups can book a guided tour (up to 20 people) or visit on their own (up to 40); either takes an hour. A combined ticket with the Avaruuspuisto space park is available, and the Museum Card is accepted. The building has two floors and no lift, but the entrance is at street level.
