Home rehabilitation is run by the Kainuu wellbeing services county across the whole Kainuu region. The western area covers Paltamo and Ristijärvi as well as the main town. Intensive home rehabilitation is for people over 18 living at home whose functional capacity has suddenly declined. A period lasts 1 to 6 weeks and takes place in the client's home, with a multi-professional team of physiotherapists, occupational therapists and rehabilitative practical nurses. Home care physiotherapy is also offered to maintain functional capacity.
No referral is needed: an assessment visit by the team comes first. There are no mileage charges, and the service is free for regular home care clients. Staff are listed by municipality with direct phone numbers. The car park, entrance and toilet are wheelchair accessible.
