Visual arts education follows the extensive syllabus for ages 5–20. Teaching covers drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture, ceramics, media art and construction, with long-standing emphasis on animation and comics. Teachers have pedagogical qualifications, and many are practising artists.
Teaching takes place at three locations. Adult basic arts education, short courses and children's holiday workshops are also offered. Run by a supporting association, the school receives public operating grants and uses the Virvatuli self-assessment system to monitor learning.
