This non-profit association supports the relatives of people with mental health problems in the Ostrobothnia region. Relatives can get free conversational support and counselling, either one-to-one or in family meetings. Peer groups led by professionals and peer facilitators are open to partners, siblings, parents and adult children, and the activities also include lectures, courses, recreation, a relatives' café and theme evenings.
The website offers information on mental illness, guides and materials, and the association runs the Mahdollisuuksia web service. Young people have their own activities and an online chat where staff and volunteers answer on set weekdays. Support is also available remotely through online groups, web lectures and phone or video appointments. Activities are offered in Finnish and Swedish, and the offices in Vaasa and a second location are open by appointment.
Have you received support from the association? Share your experience in the comments so other relatives can find help more easily.
