The station belongs to a volunteer lake rescue association founded in 1974, assisting boaters on Ruotsalainen, Konnivesi and Pyhäjärvi. A common task is towing boats with engine trouble. Its auxiliary vessel A/V Kimola entered service in 2023.
Rescue boats are on duty around the clock during the open-water season. Crews are volunteers, and the association trains members in boating skills and water traffic safety. Activities are funded mainly by membership contributions and donations.
