The private English-language early childhood centre was founded by the Finland-America Association in 1970. Since 1991, an independent supporting association has run it on a non-profit basis, using all income for the centre and its children. Full early immersion began in the early 1990s: children learn through play, songs, crafts and teaching, with teachers speaking almost exclusively English.
There are three age groups, including full-day groups, with about 65 children attending each year. Teaching follows the Finnish early childhood education curriculum in English. Staff and families have varied cultural backgrounds. Both the entrance and car park are wheelchair accessible.
