The café is in the fortress area, in a building from the mid-1800s. Kati Kaapro founded it in 1986, and it reopened in its current form in 1990. The name Majurska is an old word for a major's wife. The café is known for classic bakes made in-house, such as quark, apple and berry tarts, and the interior and atmosphere are a highlight.
The café has been run since midsummer 2015 by Arja Ylä-Outinen, a trained baker-confectioner who continues her professional training. Her family has long experience in catering and baking. The entrance is not wheelchair accessible.
