This historic fortress is part of the Linnasta-linnaan cultural tourism network and reflects a shared Finnish, Russian and Swedish heritage. The oldest buildings date from the late 1700s, including the main gate guardhouse, now the Cavalry Museum. The site also holds the South Karelia Art Museum buildings, an Orthodox church and the Commandant's house, plus restaurants, shops and a theatre.
The car park and entrance are wheelchair accessible.
