In Lieksa, this national park's peaks, gorges and eskers form a single geological whole, and the area is known for its quartzite cliffs. Trails lead through old forests and traditional rural landscapes, and the signature view is the national landscape that opens from the summit of Ukko-Koli over Lake Pielinen. The park is managed by Metsähallitus.
Some of the hiking trails are suitable for children, and rest stops have barbecue grills, picnic tables and public toilets. Dogs are allowed, and the car park is accessible. Directions for arriving by car are on the Luontoon.fi service.
