This fruit species garden in the Lohjansaari area is a demonstration garden of about 4 hectares, with plantings collected over more than ten years. It is run by a group of professional horticulturists who aim to promote interest in garden plants and preserve Finnish garden culture. The apple orchard has about 250 varieties, with about 50 varieties each of pears and plums, about 40 of cherries, over 30 ornamental apples and large collections of currants and gooseberries.
The berry garden also includes blueberries, Japanese quince, sea buckthorn, saskatoon, honeyberry and aronia. More than 30 wine grape varieties grow in a covered greenhouse and outdoors, alongside kiwiberry and lemon vine. Experimental plantings include rare species such as mulberries, apricots and various nuts. Plants are grouped by species, cultivars carry name signs, and a planting map can be downloaded and printed from the website.
