Completed in 1899, the wooden church stands on a rocky height near the sea on the site of earlier churches. Designed by Johan Nordstrand and built by Robert Wettervik, it mainly used timber from parish forests. According to its website, it is Finland's second-largest wooden church, seating about 2,400.
Events are booked through the parish office. It serves as a roadside church in summer; between Epiphany and Easter, services are mainly held in the parish hall. A hearing loop and toilet are available. The entrance and parking are wheelchair accessible, with parking on the market square and parish hall yard.
