This family bakery began in 1946, when Elli started selling rye bread and rieska, a Finnish flatbread she baked in Lumijoki, at a market stall. It is now in its third generation of family ownership, and its stall at the market square is the longest continuously operating sales point there. The bakery makes rye breads, rieska and pastries to traditional recipes with domestic ingredients. Products include rye and oat rehvakka, small rye loaves and frozen dough, which are also sold in an online shop.
In 2013 the bakery moved into larger premises in Maikkula, which include a bakery shop and a café. Fresh bread, baked for the local area throughout the week, can be collected from the shop. On weekdays from 10:00 to 15:00 there is a lunch with a buffet, salads, fresh breads, dessert and coffee. The car park, entrance and toilet are wheelchair accessible.
