The shelter stands in a historic parsonage's grounds, a short walk from the shore near a boathouse and birdwatching tower. There is a fire pit beside it, another campfire spot on the shore and a forest nature trail. The grounds have roots in the early 1600s.
The shelter and fire pits can be used when the parish has no activities there. Visitors may saw a reasonable amount of firewood behind the shelter; bringing wood may help in winter. Fires are prohibited during forest fire warnings. A wooden toilet is beside the fire pit. Clean up and take litter to the bin in the parsonage yard. Swimming at nearby Pihlajaniemi is possible when no other activity is taking place. Parking is accessible, but there is no accessible seating or hearing loop.
