Opened in 1981, the ecomuseum preserves a Savo smallholding and its cultural landscape within a 22-hectare nature conservation area in the Saimaa archipelago. The first crofter settled in 1899, and the farm became independent in 1919. Buildings remain on their original sites.
The main house is a traditional two-room farmhouse, and the barn has an earth floor. The yard includes granaries, a well, a hut and sauna. Guided visits explore the farm, repaired using traditional methods. An overnight guest berth is available for boats. There is an accessible toilet.
