The association was founded in 1948 and is part of the national Finnish Lung Health Association. Its area covers Enonkoski, Rantasalmi, Sulkava and Puumala. It works to improve the quality of life of people with respiratory diseases and their relatives, and to promote lung health and a healthy living environment.
Activities include exercise groups, member evenings and open events. Women's and mixed exercise groups accept new participants all the time, while peer support groups are on pause for the time being. Individuals can join as members, and registered associations, foundations and public bodies can join as supporting members. Child membership is free.
