This national romantic red-brick villa was built in 1898–1900 on the Hatanpää peninsula in Tampere as the home of bank manager Nils Idman, to designs by architect Odert Sebastian Gripenberg. The city bought it in 1913, around 1916 it became Military Hospital No. 1, and in 1932–1935 it was converted into a psychiatric hospital, mainly to plans by Bertel Strömmer. In the early 1990s it was renovated as city offices.
The roof has many small towers and projections, and the east façade bears Nils Idman's initials and the building years. The terraces have wrought-iron railings and stone pillars. During repainting in 2008, Art Nouveau wall paintings were found on the upper floor.
