An amateur astronomy association in Tampere runs this observatory in the old Kauppi water tower. On Sunday evenings the public can view the sky through the association's telescopes, weather permitting, with other programmes on cloudy nights. There are also group shows by arrangement, courses, members' observing and social evenings, and an open day.
Places on the Sunday evenings must be booked in advance. Visits are suitable for children, but the entrance is not wheelchair accessible. Planetarium shows are held at Särkänniemi rather than in the tower. Some information on the website is in English.
