The central hospital is part of Tampere University Hospital, run by the Pirkanmaa wellbeing services county. Its units include an intensive care unit, a neonatal intensive care unit and a children's blood and cancer unit, and there is a patient hotel on site. Specialities include geriatrics, lung, skin and allergy diseases, surgery and day surgery, anaesthesia and pain management, and ear, nose, throat and oral diseases.
