The club began its activities in Tampere in 1926 and is a non-profit association with more than 800 members, affiliated to the Finnish Equestrian Federation. It runs competitions at different levels, from practice events to national shows, as well as coaching, training, youth activities, members' evenings and study trips. Its own riding centre, Tampereen Ratsastuskeskus, is the hub of its activities.
The stables and arenas are leased to a separate company that runs the riding school there; the club itself does not give lessons or own horses. Arena time and venue hire can be booked through the club, and volunteers can sign up to help at competitions and events. The entrance is step-free.
