In Turku you can swim in open water all year round, through a hole in the ice in winter, and warm up afterwards. There are three wood-heated saunas, an electric one and a tent sauna with milder heat, plus hot-water pools for those who prefer to skip the cold water.
All bathing facilities are shared and swimwear is worn at all times. Bring your own towel; in winter, swimming slippers, gloves and a hat are recommended. First-timers should keep the dip short, and nobody should go in after drinking alcohol or while ill. Morning sessions run on Wednesdays and Fridays. The Avantopuoti shop sells snacks, drinks and gift cards, and there is accessible parking.
