Completed in 2011 as part of the European Capital of Culture programme, the timber pavilion has a woven network structure made from Finnforest Kerto laminated timber. Parametric design methods were used in a collaboration involving students and architects from Columbia University, the University of Oulu and Aalto University.
The pavilion is in City Hall Park and has provided public space for events. Structural engineering was carried out by Aalto University, with CNC fabrication by Woodpolis in Kuhmo.
