Established by the wartime women's auxiliary organisation in 1944, the foundation continues its welfare and social responsibility work. It began as Suomen Naisten Huoltosäätiö and adopted its present name in 2004. It supports women's education during crises, helps children and young people affected by crises and preserves the organisation's heritage.
The foundation maintains a professionally managed specialist museum documenting the organisation and its members. It also runs a museum café, shop and gallery. Café products adapt wartime field-kitchen recipes. The entrance is wheelchair accessible.
