Founded in 1967, this is Finland's oldest professional theatre working in a group format. It is an association-based theatre whose aim is not profit but promoting multi-arts and social cultural debate. It brings together theatre professionals from different generations who see theatre as a total work of art, and its productions aim to show the unbearably beautiful meaningfulness of life and give voice to less heard voices.
There are two stages: Hesari in Kallio focuses on new Finnish plays, while Suokki in Suomenlinna is a summer theatre for reinterpretations of classics. The programme includes Äitisi, Klytaimestra, alfabet and Palkintopuhetta, a comedy about winning and losing. The entrance and toilet are wheelchair accessible.
