Kirjailijatalo, by the Töölönlahti bay in the Linnunlaulu area, is a base for writers and writers' organisations. It has 14 writers' work rooms and three guest rooms for short stays by visiting writers. The residency is open to writers and members of the literary community, and applications are accepted on a rolling basis. The villa on the site was built as a wooden villa in 1890, and the Kivi-talo Foundation has owned and run it since 1985. Former residents and guests include Maila Talvio and Tyyni Tuulio.
Party halls are rented for weddings, confirmation parties, seminars, meetings and group days. A 10-person sauna in the villa's side building can be hired. The annual Night of the Arts is held here together with the writers' association. The car park and entrance are wheelchair accessible.
