This small Helsinki park was laid out together with the surrounding villa district, first planned in 1899. Designed by city gardener Svante Olsson, it was completed in 1913 on a former ravine that had been used as a landfill, and its baroque-style layout draws on German garden design. Locals also call it Kukkapuisto, the 'flower park'.
The park is meant for quiet strolling and sitting. Planting includes two large perennial beds, orange azaleas in spring and lilacs, and since 2000 it has held Matti Haupt's marble sculpture Three Boys Carrying Vessels (1962). There is step-free access, dogs are allowed, and a visit usually takes 20 minutes to an hour and a half.
