This church of the Helsinki Cathedral Parish was completed by Christmas 1826 and was originally meant to be temporary. It was built with imperial salt-tax funds after the Ulrika Eleonora church on the site of today's Senate Square was condemned for demolition, and that building's furnishings were moved here.
Masses and lunchtime concerts are held in the building, and there is a children's choir club. There is an admission fee, and tickets are sold online and at the park-side entrance. The building is not fully accessible: wheelchair users and people with a helper can enter from the street side, and the lift fits a wheelchair or rollator up to 90 cm wide. The sexton helps with the lift.
