This City of Helsinki comprehensive school has about 800 pupils in grades 1–9 across two sites and describes itself as an inclusive, community-based neighbourhood school. Teaching is built around phenomenon-based inquiry learning in five periods a year, and some groups mix pupils of different ages. Pupils can start English or Spanish in grade 1, with French and Swedish added in later grades.
Each phenomenon period ends with an open-door event. The city's KVO13 anti-bullying programme is in use, and the student welfare team includes a counsellor, psychologists and nurses. Parents keep in touch through Wilma, and the entrance and car park are wheelchair accessible.
