This Helsinki adult education centre has offered courses since 1920 and is part of the Kalliola Settlement, a social organisation that works to reduce inequality. Each year more than 140 teachers run over 600 open courses for about 7,500 students. Languages, visual arts and design, and yoga have the most courses, followed by music, sport, dance and crafts. Some courses earn study credits, and some are for children and adults together.
You sign up online, and if a group has space you can join partway through the term and pay only for the remaining sessions. The settlement's building has a step-free entrance, an accessible toilet, accessible seating and accessible parking.
