Founded in 1968 on philosopher Reijo Wilenius's initiative, the independent course and culture centre offers open teaching in arts, philosophy and other sciences. Subjects include visual art, music, writing, literature, personal growth, speech and communication.
An association maintains the non-profit organisation. Sivis Study Centre is the official educational institution for most courses. The online humanist journal Katsaus includes videos, podcasts and a magazine archive from 1957 to 2011. Lectures, events and YouTube content are also offered. The entrance is wheelchair accessible.
