Baker Virjo founded this bakery in Helsinki in 1946 and chose its name by spinning a globe, which stopped at a Pacific island. In 1975 it was bought by the Snellman family, who ran a café on the Market Square, and they still run it today. Pastries, pies, buns and bread are baked by hand every day. The speciality is the lihis meat pie, made to the same secret recipe since 1946.
Around 30 to 40 retailers in the Helsinki area sell its products, including Stockmann, selected K-Supermarkets and the Old Market Hall. The café serves breakfast, and pastries can be taken away. Dogs are allowed inside, and cards and mobile payments are accepted. The entrance is not step-free.
