This square behind the Lasipalatsi building in Helsinki occupies a former bus station site. Since the Amos Rex museum was completed, it has become a moonscape-like cluster of contemporary architecture and events. Before that it hosted markets and festivals, and outdoor films were projected onto the Lasipalatsi wall. The site once held the Russian army's Turku Barracks, completed in 1833 and almost entirely destroyed during the capture of Helsinki in 1918.
Lasipalatsi, completed in 1936, houses Ravintola Lasipalatsi, a café and the Bio Rex cinema. The square has step-free access, accessible parking and an accessible toilet, and it is suitable for children. Visits usually last up to 2.5 hours.
