Rising about 91 metres above sea level, this hill built from surplus soil is the highest point in Helsinki. It took shape between 1976 and 1996, when leftover material from construction was piled up here. The city's longest stairway, with 347 steps, leads to the summit, where Hanna Vainio's environmental artwork Tuulet ja suunnat ("Winds and Directions", 1998) stands, and the top offers panoramic views.
Nearby are outdoor gym equipment and a football pitch, and in winter the slope is used for sledging. Cyclists and extreme sports enthusiasts use the hill too. It is suitable for children, but there are no toilets or cafés.
