Two sister kindergartens in Helsinki offer English language immersion. They are run on a non-profit basis by a supporting association that all parents belong to; the first opened in 1995 and the second in 2019. There are about 60 places for children aged 0 to 6, and both are approved providers of pre-primary education. No prior English is needed: children pick it up through play, songs, rhymes, stories and daily routines.
Groups have 8 to 14 children, and each child has a named carer. Full-day, part-day and flexible care are available. Parents do not need to speak English, as staff can always talk with them in Finnish. Children play outdoors every day in Mäkitorppa Park.
