Founded in 1952, this Helsinki restaurant has kept its original structures and details over the decades. The kitchen serves traditional Finnish food and is known especially for its meatballs, pyttipannu (a hash of diced potatoes and meat) and fried Baltic herring. Beer, wine and cocktails are served, and food is available late into the evening.
Tables can be booked by phone or online; a standard booking is for two hours, and tables are held for 15 minutes after the booked time. Groups of more than eight book by phone or email, as does everyone on May Day, Mother's Day and Father's Day. Takeaway is available, there is outdoor seating and the toilet is accessible.
