Founded in 1959, the politically non-partisan pensioners' organisation works nationally through 12 regional and 180 local associations, with around 16,000 individual members. It advocates age-friendly communities, income security, services and safe lives for older people, and supports local advocacy.
Activities include training, cultural events and a member magazine. The organisation belongs to the EETU umbrella body and participates in advisory councils on older people and pensions and in AGE Platform Europe. The office is in Malmintori shopping centre, and the website is in Finnish and Swedish.
