Operating since 1961, the volunteer association rescues and assists people in distress on coastal and inland waters. It belongs to the nationwide Finnish Sea Rescue Society network. Its rescue vessels work with the Border Guard's maritime rescue coordination centre.
The association organises boating-safety events and emergency-signalling exercises. Membership services include assistance for boats. The entrance is not wheelchair accessible.
